--Green Day Doc To Premiere At X Games This Month

Green Day's Mike Dirnt says he and his bandmates are ready to get "close and personal" with their fans again.  That process will start later this month, when the punk rockers visit Aspen, Colorado for the premiere of their new documentary, "Quatro!," and a question-and-answer session right after the showing.  ESPN reports the documentary will be screened on January 26th during the X Games FILM showcase at this year's X Games Aspen.  "Quatro!" follows Green Day through the writing and recording of their recent album trilogy -- "Uno!," "Dos!" and "Tre!" -- and Dirnt says they gave director Tim Wheeler free reign to show fans "the good, the bad and the ugly."

Meanwhile, Dirnt also says Green Day is "ready to take off" on a make-up tour following their recent hiatus.  The band was forced to step out of the spotlight and cancel most of their road trip when frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked into a rehab facility last fall.  But Dirnt says Armstrong is "doing great" and "everything is ready to go."  They're scheduled to kick off the trek March 28th with a show in Chicago.


--Guns N' Roses To Release 3D Concert Film

Anyone who didn't get a chance to visit Sin City during Guns 'N Roses' recent residency are in luck.  Axl Rose and company have announced plans to release a 3D concert film documenting their "Appetite for Democracy" stint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas last fall.  The concert video is also set to come out on DVD and television.  Release dates have yet to be unveiled, but the film is reportedly due out sometime this year.  Until then, GNR fans can get a taste of things to come with a preview video of the group performing "Paradise City" posted on their Facebook page.


--Journey, Rascal Flatts To Play Super Bowl Edition Of "Crossroads"

That Journey-Rascal Flatts "CMT Crossroads" pairing is finally coming together.  The two groups will team up for the special Super Bowl 47 edition of the CMT series, which pairs country stars with artists from other genres to share stories and swap songs and see where their musical paths cross.  Journey and Rascal Flatts will take the stage at the New Orleans Sugar Mill on February 2nd to tape the show, which will air that night at 11:00 p.m. Eastern.  Fans wanting to attend the concert can register for free tickets at 1iota.com.

The Journey-Rascal Flatts episode has seemingly been in the works for a while.  Journey frontman Arnel Pinal first mentioned the collaboration in December 2011.  The two groups did work together last year, but it wasn't to tape an episode of "Crossroads."  Journey joined Rascal Flatts for the finale of the 2012 CMT Music Awards.


--Rush Announces More U.S. Dates

Rush will be returning to the road this year.  The group has unveiled the dates to their upcoming spring tour, which includes nine North American stops.  The Canadian band will kick off their trek in Austin, Texas on April 23rd, and play shows throughout the Eastern U.S.  They'll wrap up the short road trip in Atlantic City, New Jersey on May 11th, and then head overseas.  Rush will kick off their European dates with a show in Manchester, England on May 22nd.  The group is on the road in support of their most recent album, "Clockwork Angels."


--Brian Wilson, Bon Scott Biopics Get Leading Men

 Two new rock biopics now have their leading men.  RollingStone.com says Paul Dano has been tapped to portray a young Brian Wilson in the upcoming film "Love and Mercy."  Wilson says he's "thrilled" to have the 28-year-old actor playing him as he went through one of the "most creative explosions and most fulfilling musical times" of his career.  The rock legend adds that he "still can't believe" that his life story is headed to the big screen.  He says it makes him "feel so humble," and he "can't wait to see it with a full tub of buttered popcorn."  Dano's credits include 2012's "Looper," 2011's "Cowboys & Aliens," and 2007's "There Will Be Blood."  Bill Pohlad, who co-produced the Oscar-nominated 2011 film "The Tree of Life," is on board as the director.

Meanwhile, Braveworlds.com says Rob Liotti will take the title role in "Bon Scott - The Legend of AC/DC."  The film which Liotti also co-wrote, explores the Australian band's rise to fame and the on and off stage challenges Scott faced as the group's frontman.  A teaser for the movie was shot last week in Charleston, South Carolina.  Additional details are available www.thebonscottmovie.com.
